About the Award-Winning Sustainable Biomimetic Footwear Design: Reefit is a footwear concept created with generative design and biodegradable materials. The structure is inspired by coral reefs and combines a rigid coral-like framework for support with a soft lattice layer for adaptability. Parametric modeling and 3D printing are used, with seaweed-derived bioplastics, calcium-infused lattices and mycelium composites. The lattice conforms to the foot and improves breathability. Once worn out, the shoes can be placed in marine restoration sites, where the calcium-rich structure supports coral attachment and marine biodiversity.
This palette has a refreshing feel, evoking peaceful balance.
